11/17/20 I changed the US map by adding the upper midwest to Canadian ownership. This page is under review and change to give our Canadian friends something new to worry about.

PROS AND CONS

Nobody said this would be easy.  There are upsides and downsides associated with the proposal.  Here are several that come to mind.  Remember, these are in each category from MY perspective so you may or may not view these as being in the right, er, correct category...

PROS

- CSA could build some of the world's newest steel plants in order to manufacture thousands of miles of twenty foot tall chain link fence with which to close the borders with WOFM and PSA.    (BTW: Any politician who tells you they're going to "bring manufacturing jobs back to the USA" is either stupid or lying. There's no chance of those jobs coming back here in the next hundred years without either a catastrophic global economic collapse or complex robotic-workers (just on the horizon) coming in at a slightly lower cost than twelve year old Chinese kids.)

- Thousands of new jobs created in CSA to install the fence to keep WOFM and PSA citizens out except through extensive system of newly built border crossing stations.

- Las Vegas would be part of WOFM.

- Springfield, Illinois would be part of PSA.

- PSA and WOFM national news organizations would only have to report the favored or government approved side of any issue and disregard any opposing views.  No wait.  They already do that so the media could just be absorbed into the government structures and qualify for federal pensions -unfunded of course...

CONS

- Apparently for now, the majority of people in Colorado and New Mexico would rather not be part of CSA.  TOO BAD. SO SAD.  Get used to it or move.

- Professional sports leagues would have to be realigned by nation.  Not a significant problem except for those based in Colorado, a blue state within a red nation.  In the interests of all players being equal and receiving awards for participation, I'm sure Colorado teams would prefer to align with WOFM and PSA.  For instance, PSA has a group of under-performing teams who could still compete among themselves without carrying passports around.  Seattle, Portland and teams in the former California could create a single league.  The only problem would be Colorado teams, but the Broncos could move to Los Angeles or just play with themselves.

- As for New Mexico and the twenty-six people who actually live there permanently, twelve of them live in caves up in the mountains and never come into the town, so who gives a shit.  The other fourteen think inter-steller aliens walk among us so once again, who gives a shit.  After traveling through New Mexico several times I still struggle to identify any real value it provides except for its natural beauty and the sacred lands and culture of the Native American population.  But functionally: A) it fills the void (and it's a void to avoid) between Texas and Arizona, B) it makes the trek of illegal aliens more difficult getting to the real United States, C) interplanetary exploration is based there, and D) the barren landscape is used as a huge pin cushion by multiple military departments and contractors as a target for bombing, artillery and missile testing.  So naturally it will become part of the CSA.

- In order to keep costs low and re-purpose New Mexico, it will be the site of the worlds largest prison measuring 100 miles by 100 miles, and the only maximum security prison within the CSA.  Certain categories of offenders including: drug manufacturers & pushers, pedophiles, murderers and rapists will get a one strike rule.  The prison will have a heavily guarded and electrified twenty foot high fence along three sides (more manufacturing jobs).  The south side will be unguarded for easy access to Mexico... We'll see how long it takes Mexico to close THAT border...
